I learn so much in my classes and just love my teachers. My teacher from tonight is one of my all time favorites. She always has such great things to share. Today the quote from her class is, "You can't serve others from an empty plate." I really like this quote, it can mean so much. You can't give someone something that you don't have. Yes that is true when you think about it literally but there is so much more to it. This applies emotionally and spiritually as well. Trying to share something with a friend is not effective if you do not have it to share. It does not matter how much you want to share or help someone, you literally cannot if you do not have the resources to share. In order to influence others, sometimes you must learn and influence yourself first. This also goes along with a discussion we had in another class about “Reaching down to lift another” which was a wonderful discussion. We read and talked about this talk by President Hinckley and applied it in various situations. I love the opportunity to learn such wonderful principles from amazing professors which I can apply to my personal life as well as my future teaching career.
